Training Programs Again
Off-season is officially over. I had a great couple of months working on technique and consistency with my coach Rafael Arutyunyan. I also visited my home in Michigan for a week and went on vacation to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with my family. Having a couple months to condition and refocus for this season was great, but I’m back to training programs and adding the jumps I’ve been working on to my programs.
I decided to keep my short program from last season which is ‘Arabesque’ by Benise. My new long program is choreographed by Nadia Kanaeva, and I am in love with it. The music is a combination of three songs by Havasi: ‘Spring Wind’, ‘The Unbending Chinese Tree’, and ‘Ad Martem’. The style of the program is different from anything I have done in the past. Nadia made the choreography very challenging. I only fell a couple times while first working on it; Nadia enjoyed laughing at me. I hope that I can do the choreography as well as she envisions.
My first scheduled competition is Glacier Falls in late July. It will be the first time I compete there, and I will debut my new long. I am very excited for this season to start. In the meantime I’ll be training hard with my mind set on my future goals.
My family and I in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My sisters (from left to right) are Giselle, Neysa, and Braedyn. Neysa is seventeen and Braedyn and Giselle are fifteen.
I’m thrilled to be keeping this short program for the 2016-17 season.
