World Juniors ends with bronze for Wagner

Ashley Wagner finished her season in third place at the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, with 153.57 points. Former World Junior Champion and reigning silver medalist Caroline Zhang had a disastrous short program on Friday. Yet, turning in a seven triple jump performance in the free skate, which she won, pushed her up to the silver medal.

Ashley Wagner eyes medal in Sofia

The podium is in sight for Ashley Wagner at the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. She finished second in the short program with 57.50 points. Her program in Sofia featured a triple flip-double toe combination, a double Axel and a triple lutz, although the jump received a negative grade of execution for the wrong take off.

Triple axels help Rippon repeat as champ

Skating at the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, Adam Rippon successfully defended his title, beating silver medalist Michal Brezina of the Czech Republic by about 17 points with a score of 222.00, his new personal best. The bronze medal went to Russian Artem Grigoriev.

Castelli, Shnapir clinch bronze medal at World Juniors

Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir finished the season on a high note by winning a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. U.S. Junior pair silver medalists Brynn Carman and Chris Knierim, the 2007 U.S. Novice Pair Champions who are in their first junior season, ended up ninth

Castelli, Shnapir second at World Juniors

Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir turned in a stellar short program at the World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, placing second with 49.10 points, a season’s best for the Massachusetts based pair. Brynn Carman and Chris Knierim, who won the junior pairs silver medal at the 2009 U.S. Championships a year after winning the novice crown, are currently in ninth place.

Lysacek lands quad, wins silver

Two-time U.S. Champion Evan Lysacek is the 2009 Four Continents Championship silver medalist after a dynamic free skate that included a solid quadruple toe. Skating in the same arena that will be used for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, Lysacek finished with a personal best 237.15 points.

Lysacek rebounds from nationals
