Ring in 2010 with Johnny Weir in New York

Fans are invited to ring in the New Year with three-time U.S. Champion Johnny Weir in New York City. Fresh off his bronze medal winning performance at the Grand Prix Final in Tokyo, Weir will countdown to 2010 with family and friends starting at 9 p.m. at the Russian hot spot Mari Vanna.

Stars on Ice special airs Jan. 3

Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi will host the Smucker’s Stars on Ice 2010 Tour special, featuring Sasha Cohen and Evan Lysacek. On Sunday, Jan, 3, viewers will get a special behind the scenes look at this world-famous tour, how it all began, the star skaters, heartfelt emotional memories, a collection of standout performances and most importantly, a sneak peek at this year’s stellar cast.

Vote for most improv-ed

Amway Global Improv-Ice, aired earlier Christmas Day on NBC, featured an all-star cast of world champions and Olympic medalists, including reigning world champ Evan Lysacek and 2006 Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen. The Grammy award-winning Goo Goo Dolls also performed both familiar hits and new songs live at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Lipinski guides Wagner's path to Vancouver

After another day of practice at her rink in Wilmington, Del., sometimes all 2010 U.S. Olympic team hopeful Ashley Wagner needs is someone to talk to. On the other end of the phone is often her mentor 1998 Olympic Champion Tara Lipinski. The two began working together after the 2009 World Championships, where Wagner’s coach Priscilla Hill reached out to Lipinski.

Figure Skaters Online is now accepting questions for 2009 Grand Prix Final competitor Ashley Wagner, who won the silver medal at the Rostelecom Cup and bronze at the NHK Trophy to become the only American lady to qualify for the event. She finished fourth at December’s Final in Tokyo, Japan.

Flatt a Team for Tomorrow ambassador

The newest class of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Team for Tomorrow Humanitarian Relief Fund announced details of the 2010 program, which includes visits to children’s hospitals and the donation of service hours to Habitat for Humanity. The 2010 Team for Tomorrow Athlete Ambassadors were also announced and include 2009 Skate America silver medalist Rachael Flatt.

Katz, Lynch withdraw from nats

Chloe Katz and Joseph Lynch have withdrawn from the 2010 U.S. Championships, Jan. 14-24, in Spokane, Wash., due to injury. Katz broke her ankle in training in Canton, Mich., on Friday, while the pair was practicing a new skill, the triple twist.
