Yankowskas, Coughlin headed to NHK Trophy

Caitlin Yankowskas and John Coughlin have been selected to compete at the opening Grand Prix event of the season, NHK Trophy, as replacements for 2010 U.S. Championship bronze medalists Rena Inoue and John Baldwin, U.S. Figure Skating announced today. U.S. Champions Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett will also compete at the Oct. 22-24 competition in Nagoya, Japan.

Team USA sending eight to first JGP of the season

The kickoff event for the 2010 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (JGP) Series takes place Aug. 25-28 in Courchevel, France. The competition, which will be held at the Forum 73120 Courchevel, begins Thursday, Aug. 26 with the ladies and men’s short programs.

Orser no longer coaching Olympic Champion Kim

Meehee Park, Yu-Na Kim’s mother and a representative with AT Sports (Kim’s agency), met with Brian Orser and Tracy Wilson on August 2 in Toronto, Canada. They both informed the two-time Olympic Medalist that he would no longer be retained to coach Kim. No reason was given for the sudden and unexpected decision.

Denney, Barrett announce coaching change

Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett, the 2010 U.S. pairs champions, announced today they have ended their two-year professional relationship with coaches Jim Peterson, Lyndon Johnston and Alison Smith, and will train with John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana at Saveology Iceplex in Coral Springs, Fla., as members of the Panthers Figure Skating Club.
