Preview: Junior Grand Prix Austria

The 2011 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series continues Sept. 28-Oct. 2 with athletes competing in Innsbruck, Austria, at JGP Austria. Of the 129 competitors expected to compete in the ladies, men, pairs and ice dance events, 12 represent the United States: Katarina Kulgeyko and Vanessa Lam in ladies; Timothy Dolensky and Philip Warren in men’s; Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier, Kylie Duarte and Colin Grafton and Olivia Oltmanns and Joshua Santillan in pairs; and Alexandra Aldridge and Daniel Eaton.

Melissa Bulanhagui to represent Philippines

Melissa Bulanhagui, who won the bronze medal for the United States at the 2010 Nebelhorn Trophy, announced that she will represent the Philippines, the birth place of her parents, in future competitions. She will make her debut at the Philippines National Championships in November with a goal of competing internationally after the 2011-12 season.

Czisny plans triple Lutz-triple toe for Skate America

After a long day on the ice, Alissa Czisny had time for a quick chat as she waited to drive Adam Rippon home. Czisny lives in the same complex as 14 other skaters from her rink, and has been living with Rippon all summer since his apartment didn’t open until August. She’s still driving him home every day, but doesn’t mind because she said it’s nice to have company.
