Internationaux de France cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic

Internationaux de France has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event was to take place Nov. 13-15, 2020 in Grenoble, France.

French Federation of Ice Sports (FFSG) made the decision to cancel the event after French President Emmanuel Macron put in place a curfew for the Grenoble area.

The federation “closely monitored the health authorities position on COVID-19, but given the evolution of the health crisis and their prudence for the health and safety of the athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers, the appropriate course of action was for the FFSG to cancel the event.”

This is the second Grand Prix event to be cancelled due to the pandemic. On Oct. 14, Skate Canada announced the cancellation of Skate Canada International, originally scheduled to take place Oct. 30-31 in Ottawa, Ontario.  The Grand Prix Final, originally scheduled for Beijing in December, has been postponed indefinitely.

The ISU also announced the cancellation of the 2021 Four Continents Championships, that was originally scheduled to take place in Sydney, Australia in February.

The 2020-2021 Grand Prix Series will get underway with Skate America on Oct. 23-24 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
