Nathan Chen to be honored at Ice Theatre of New York’s annual benefit gala

Each spring, the Ice Theatre of New York holds its annual benefit gala and performance, along with its Home Season performances. On May 4, Ice Theatre of New York, or ITNY, will honor 2022 Olympic Champion and three-time World Champion Nathan Chen at its benefit gala and performance at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Also, that evening, ITNY will present the business and art award to Byron Allen, the producer of the Stars on Ice tour.

The annual benefit gala also features a performance by the ITNY ensemble, along with guest artists, 2026 Olympians Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik, who recently won the bronze medal at the 2026 World Championships. Chen, who will not be performing, will make an appearance on the ice at the end of the benefit performance.

ITNY also announced April 28 that they will also be welcoming members of the Stars on Ice tour to the gala. 2026 Olympic gold medalists Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea, 2026 Olympians Andrew Torgashev, and Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko and 2014 Olympic bronze medalist Jason Brown will be attending the gala.

ITNY’s annual benefit gala and performance supports the free public programs that ITNY performs in NYC-area public ice rinks, Bryant Park, Wollman Rink, Rockefeller Center and the Gottesman Rink at Central Park’s Davis Center.

A few days before the gala benefit, ITNY’s Home Season performances will take place at Chelsea Piers. Those performances are Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. This year’s Home Season performances feature 10 pieces, including two world premiere pieces. One of those pieces was choreographed by two-time Olympian and three-time World medalist ice dancer Kaitlyn Weaver.

The 2026 ITNY professional ensemble includes Sarah Baetge, Jaqueline Benson, Danil Berdnikov, Georgina Blackwell, Sarah France, Joe Johnson, Isaac Lindy, Karina Manta, Libby McGrosky, Vakhtang Murvanidze, Janine Rho, Liz Schmidt, Aaron Singletary, Matt Thomas and Milly Wasserman. Emmanuel Savary, six-time U.S. senior Nationals competitor, will perform as a guest artist.

Tickets are $25 for the May 1 and May 2 shows. To purchase tickets, visit https://givebutter.com/2026HS.
